BA (Hons) Interior Design students trip to Edinburgh

On Monday 24 October BA (Hons) Interior Design students, as part of their Integrated Studies module visited the Assembly Rooms in George Street, Edinburgh, which has recently had a 9.3 million pound refurbishment for a talk about this, and a guided tour of the venue.  They then visited the Georgian House in Charlotte Square  for a guided tour and a talk about the National Trust’s restoration policy. Both buildings are 17th Century New Town buildings with A Listed interiors. Students were shown how the two different clients have interpreted the historic restoration to suit their particular needs, and incorporated up to date technology (lighting, heating, sound systems etc) into the fabric of the architecture while retaining important original architectural features.
