Students to create Brand for a New Beer

HND Illustration 2nd year students are taking part in a five week ‘live project’ in the second half of this block.

They will work with Neil, from Ostreet- ostreet.co.uk, a graphic design agency based in the West End of Glasgow, who will commission them to brand and label a new beer that the studio is brewing in small batches.  The students are working towards designing a label for Ostreet’s bespoke, limited edition beer that they will serve at their next Beer X, a bimonthly collaborative cultural event that they host- www.beertimes.net on the 4th of March.   Designs that offer an interesting perception on collaboration, open dialogue and provoke discussion, and/ or take into account flavours and the brewing process will be favoured. The strongest designs from the class will be selected and printed on labels that will adorn the ‘Profondo Rosso’, a bourbon oaked cherry saison beer and Ostreet will host an event at their studios, with the students, that launches the new beer.   Students and staff will be welcome at the event, sign up for invitations at the Beer X website- www.beertimes.net.

It is a really fun project and should be as close to industry practice as we can get, with Neil coming in to College  three times for a presentation and to give them the brief; an interim meeting to discuss progress; and a final client presentation at the end.
