Twenty students from HND 2 Illustration and HND 2 Applied Arts will be visiting Barcelona for a study trip from Monday 21st to Friday 25th March, with John Graham (Illustration) and Fiona Ferguson (Applied Arts). The Applied Arts students have been set an Entrepreneurial Challenge in Block 1 in order to raise money for the trip. The challenge is being supported by Youth Enterprise Scotland and the Bridge to Business enterprise officer Andrew Tompkins, who is now working closely with the unit delivery. Students have already benefitted from the expertise of Andrew, plus Danny Quinn from the Scottish Institute for Enterprise, and Charlotte Hill a recent CoGC graduate who has been successful in receiving Starter for 6 funding from the Cultural Enterprise Office for her glass products. After pitching to a ‘Dragon’s Den’ panel, students are now working on a range of products to manufacture and sell at the Art in the Exchange Fayre on 5th and 6th December , organized by Art On Scotland, with Colin Thompson and HND Jewellery and George McNeillie and HND Art Glass Students. The same groups will also be selling their wares at the annual College Xmas Fayre.
